It is
the most popular drink (after water), and is consumed almost in every corner of the planet. But there are at least 10 things you (probably) don't know.

1. Coffee comes from a fruit. This, in fact, it's similar to a cherry.
2. In 18th century, drinking too much coffee was considered a huge social issue.
3. Coffee is more than just a drink. It can be used as a fertilizer.
4. It doesn't contain only caffeine. There are at least 1000 of chemical compounds in coffee, and 20 of these could be carcinogenic.
5. It would take around 100 cups of coffee for a lethal dose of caffeine.
6. The two most popular beverages on Earth, in order, are water and coffee (maybe this is not so surprising).
7. The word "coffee" comes from the Arabic "qahhwat al-bun," meaning "wine of the bean".
8. Coffee beans are combustible and scientists have suggested that coffee beans could replace fossil fuels as one of our main sources of energy and motor fuel.
9. Legend has it that coffee was discovered by Ethiopian shepherds who discovered their goats dancing around after eating the beans.
10. In the ancient Arab culture there was only one way a woman could legally divorce: If her husband didn’t provide enough coffee.
11. Most people might not know Espresso has 1/3 of the caffeine of a regular cup of coffee.
12. If milk is added to coffee, the fat content of the milk causes human body to absorb caffeine at a slower rate, thus weakening its effect.
13. Beats suicide. Drinking two to four cups of coffee a day has been found to reduce suicide risk by as much as 50 per cent. So it can also be used against depression
14.Coffee beans are very elastic. To recognize their goodness, you have to throw one on the ground: if it bounces, the coffee will be good.
15. Latte art is among the most impressive, and certainly the easiest to appreciate over the internet. Using nothing but hot milk and espresso, latte artists work to create intricate designs on the surface of the drink. Swirls and leaves are popular, but some artists produce pictures of dragons, cartoon characters, and teddy bears, Creations too adorable to even consider drinking, don't you think?
